Level 2 - Marchesa 2022 Team Lead

I have a wide variety of Judge experience: small IQs to Grand Prix's and Opens, from Scorekeeper to Head Judge.

My favorite part about being a Judge is the interaction with players and staff, there's always something new and exciting. While you will never convince me Legacy isn't best format, I do dabble in Modern and Commander where I play the most fun jank I can (Bant Blink and Cascade Tribal, respectively).

Currently I drive big rigs, though as soon as I can I want to work for my LGS (because my hobbies are expensive).

Favorite part of events: hearing "Judge!" Because I get to interact and improve someone's day.

Worst part of events: hearing "Judge!" Because a non-zero percent of the time I have to ruin someone's day.

Level 1 - Floor Judge

My name is Maria Howerton-Sweid. I've judged for multiple cEDH tournaments in the past, all of which being held on Cockatrice or Webcam.

I started playing Magic in Khans of Tarkir and my favorite set is Throne of Eldraine. I primarily play Control decks, with some of my favorites being Esper Dragons and Modern Sultai SnOko

When I'm not playing Magic, I often practice playing various instruments. I play Electric Guitar and Bass, Viola, and Sing, but I've played many other instruments in the past. I also write poetry occasionally

Level 1 - Floor Judge

I’m an Electrical Engineer by day and a Judge and (mostly) Modern Hardened Scales player local to the Cleveland, OH area, but I’m starting to expand my Magic horizons.

I got my start playing Magic as a summer camp counselor. Many of the campers liked to play the game, so I figured I should learn as well – this was around the start of the first Theros block. I’ve come a long way since summer camp, and my favorite formats are Cube and Modern. My favorite Magic cards are Arcbound Ravager; Tangle Wire; and Laelia, the Blade Reforged. When the time comes to Command, I’m usually piloting one of the Marchesa variants.

Outside of Magic, I have two cats – one an adoption from a friend and one that I found in a stream. When I’m by myself, I’m almost always listening to music. I love hearing and talking about new sounds.
